Description:

In 2003, the Free Church of Scotland Psalmody and Praise Committee introduced Sing Psalms, a metrical translation of the Psalms that follows the format of the Scottish Psalter while updating vocabulary and grammar for improved comprehension.

Sing Psalms distinguishes itself as a metrical translation rather than a paraphrase, endeavoring to faithfully represent the original text in verse form.

Balancing between compression and expansion, adjustments have been made to suit the metrical structure of the English language without sacrificing the essence of the Scriptures.

The practice of singing Psalms has deep roots in Christian worship, popularized during the Reformation through the use of metrical psalms, a tradition upheld by Sing Psalms.

Any reproduction of psalm versions from Sing Psalms is permitted for non-saleable media without explicit consent from the Psalmody and Praise Committee, provided that no more than six psalms are quoted at a time. Acknowledgment of the source is encouraged.
